Window Shades is an interesting, simple and original little program. It is an application able to establish a semitransparent background colour (whichever you want, and with the level of transparency you want too) which affects the whole of the screen not taken up with the main window.

Window Shades is an aesthetic tool, but it mainly works to help focus your concentration on the active window only, or those windows you are working in at the time.
